Trump is a four-player partnership trick-taking card game, played with a standard 52-card deck. Two teams of two compete over thirteen tricks, and the team that takes 7 or more tricks wins the round. Because 13 is an odd number, every round has exactly one winning team.

Exactly four — two teams of two. Your partner sits directly across from you, and you never see each other's hands.
The trump suit is a suit that outranks every other suit for the round. A 2 of trump beats an Ace of any non-trump suit. Trump only matters once it is named (before the first trick).
Player 1 — the player to the dealer's left — looks at their first five cards and names one of the four suits as trump. They can't pass, and they can't change it after seeing the rest of their hand.
Yes. If you hold a card of the led suit, you must play one. If you are void in the led suit, you may play anything — including trump.

Seven. There are 13 tricks in a round, so 7 or more wins it. Because 13 is odd, a round can never tie 6–6.
